Frequently Asked Questions

What is the mSIMP?

mSIMP is a modified version of the Structured Intensive Multidisciplinary Program (SIMP). It is less intensive, so it allows more flexibility for workers with chronic pain.

How is it different from the SIMP?

The SIMP is an intensive model. The mSIMP is less intensive: 3 hours a day, 4 days a week, for 4 weeks, so it can suit workers with less intensive needs.

Who should be referred?

Workers with chronic pain lasting more than 3 months despite conservative care, who are unable to return to work or are working but limited by pain. See the full criteria above.

How does the referral work?

The worker's attending provider makes the referral, and L&I authorizes the program. Patients complete the same initial evaluation as the SIMP, and our team helps with the paperwork.

How much time does it take?

12 hours a week for 4 consecutive weeks, 48 hours in total.

Can I attend by telehealth?

No. mSIMP is delivered in person at our Lynnwood or Renton clinic.

Can I do both the mSIMP and the SIMP?

Each claim is limited to one mSIMP or SIMP.

Where do I go?

You can attend at either clinic. Lynnwood: 16201 25th Ave W, Lynnwood, WA 98087, with free underground parking and ADA accessibility. Renton: 600 SW 39th St, Renton, WA 98057.
